Temporary registration to the user
Do you regularly drive a car that isn't registered in your name? If you use it for more than a month, your name must appear on the registration document.
- 30 days Beyond this period, the annotation is mandatory.
The rule applies to anyone who has access to a vehicle (except mopeds) for a period exceeding 30 days, even if they are not the owner. This is the classic case of a car loaned to a family member, partner, or employee. This is provided for by Article 94, paragraph 4-bis of the Highway Code and Article 247-bis of Presidential Decree 495/1992.

- ๐ Transferor (dante causa) The owner of the vehicle, i.e. the person who makes it available.
- ๐ Transferee (avente causa) The trustee, i.e. the person who uses the vehicle.
Who submits the application
- Avente causa The person using the vehicle can request it directly.
- Dante causa The owner can request it, but a power of attorney from the entitled party is required.

The end date is also required. The term of the loan agreement must be indicated on the coupon: decide in advance how long the loan will last.

At the end of the process, a sticker is issued to be applied to the vehicle registration document, with the name of the borrower and the expiry date of the loan for use.

It's not a formality. The annotation is a legal requirement: if you are stopped for a check, habitually driving a vehicle without this annotation exposes you to a fine.
Do you need to make the annotation?
All you need is your documents and the vehicle registration document: come to the office together and the process will be completed at once, without the need for authorization.
