Re-registering a vehicle
Have you lost a license plate, or is it so damaged that it's no longer legible? Re-registration is required: old license plates are replaced with new ones.
🔢 When needed
- ❓ Lost license plate One or both license plates have been lost or stolen.
- 🔧 Damaged license plate The license plate is damaged, bent or illegible.
In both cases the procedure is the same: the vehicle receives a new license plate number .
📄 What you need
- Circulation Certificate (Cdc) or Single Document (DU)
- Paper Certificate of Ownership (Cdp)document issued by the PRA until 04/10/2015
- Electronic Identity Card of the owneror other document together with the tax code
- Owner's residence permit (if non-EU citizen)If the residence permit has expired, submit appropriate renewal application forms.
- Remaining license plate and/or remains of the damaged license plate
- Report of lossOnly in case of loss of license plate.

Don't throw away the remaining license plate. Even if it's bent or broken, it must be handed over: it serves as proof that the old license plate has been removed from circulation.
