Exporting a vehicle
To permanently export a vehicle, you first need to deregister it for export . This process must be completed before exporting the vehicle, not afterward.
๐ How it works
Upon deregistration, the vehicle is removed from Italian registers. A single vehicle registration and ownership document is issued, which is not valid for circulation , and which notes the destination country.
Three conditions to be met
- โฑ๏ธ Before export Deregistration must be requested while the vehicle is still in Italy.
- ๐ง Roadworthiness test up to date The vehicle must have a valid inspection at the time of the procedure.
- โ๐ฝ No administrative detentions The vehicle must not be subject to administrative seizures. You can check this by completing a PRA search.
Administrative seizure? Vehicles with administrative seizures cannot be deregistered. The seizure must first be cancelled, then exported.
๐ What you need
The vehicle is still registered to the person submitting the application.
- Vehicle Circulation Certificate (Cdc) or Single Document (DU)
- Paper Certificate of Ownership (Cdp) - document issued by the PRA until 04/10/2015
- Electronic Identity Card of the owner or other document together with the tax code
- Residence permit of the owner (if non-EU citizen)
- Vehicle license plates (or loss report if not available)
A bill of sale between the owner and the exporter is required. In addition to all the above documents, the following are required:
- Electronic Identity Card of the buyer/exporter or other document together with the tax code
- Residence permit of the buyer/exporter (if non-EU citizen)
๐ถ How much does it cost?
- 115 โฌ Deregistration requested by the vehicle owner
- 130 โฌ Deregistration requested by the person who purchased the vehicle, with the bill of sale included
Don't forget your license plates. They must be submitted along with the rest of the documentation; without them, the process won't be completed.
